This policy applies to the website at jsoncompare.dev and the JSON tools published there, including JSON Compare, JSON Formatter, JSON Validator, JSON Minify, JSON Unescape, YAML to JSON, XML to JSON, and JSON to XML.

When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “our,” it refers to the operator of jsoncompare.dev. When it says “you,” it refers to a visitor or user of the site.

jsoncompare.dev is built around a simple idea: everyday JSON tools should not force people to upload sensitive sample data just to format, compare, or validate it.

Most of what the site does happens in your browser. When you paste JSON into a tool, open a local file, or generate a diff, formatted result, validation message, or conversion output, that work is designed to run on your device.

• Pasted content: text you enter for compare, format, validate, minify, unescape, or conversion.
• Local files: files you choose through your browser’s file picker so they can be read on your device.
• Results you generate: diffs, pretty-printed JSON, minified JSON, validation messages, and converted documents created in the page.
• On-page choices: temporary settings such as indentation, ignore-order options, or root element names.

Optional URL loading: some tools, such as XML to JSON, let you fetch a file from a public URL. If you use that option, your browser requests the URL directly. The remote site may see a normal web request from you, and the downloaded content is then handled in your browser. This is different from pasting text or opening a local file, and it only happens when you choose to fetch a URL.

One important limit: no website can control everything on your side. Browser extensions, security software, managed devices, or company network monitoring outside our control may still observe activity on your computer or network. Our design choice is about how the tools work, not a guarantee about software installed in your environment.

Even when tool input stays local, running a public website can involve limited technical data. Depending on hosting, DNS, and other service providers, the following may be processed:

• Server and request logs: IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, browser information, and basic request details used to deliver pages and keep the service reliable.
• Security and abuse signals: information needed to detect outages, bots, heavy automated traffic, or attacks against the site.
• Email communications: if you contact support@jsoncompare.dev, we receive the content of your message and any address or signature details you include.
• Feedback you choose to send: feature requests, bug reports, or screenshots you share with us.

We do not require personal data to use the tools. If a future feature ever needs optional remote processing, we will describe that clearly in the product and update this policy before making it a default.

The site is built for utility, not tracking. We do not use the tools themselves to build advertising profiles from the content of your JSON. We do not currently use analytics cookies or third-party advertising trackers on jsoncompare.dev.

• Essential operation: the site may use technical mechanisms needed to serve pages securely and keep basic features working.
• Local browser storage: a page may keep temporary state in memory or browser storage to support the tool on your device.
• No account cookies: because there is no login system, we do not keep signed-in session cookies.

If we add privacy-friendly analytics or similar measurement later, we will update this policy first and aim to keep measurement limited, aggregated, and unnecessary for the core tools to work.

When we receive technical or contact information, we use it only for limited purposes:

• operate, maintain, and secure jsoncompare.dev
• diagnose performance or availability issues
• respond to support requests and feedback
• understand high-level traffic patterns needed to keep the service useful
• comply with law or enforce the Terms of Use when required

We do not use the contents of your local tool input as a personalization or advertising dataset, because the tools are designed so that content does not need to be sent to us for the main features to work.

We may rely on service providers to host the website, deliver pages, provide DNS, handle traffic spikes, or help protect against abuse. Those providers process technical data only to deliver their services to us.

We do not sell personal information. We also do not share contact emails or support message contents with third parties for their own marketing.

We may disclose information if required to comply with applicable law, lawful requests, or to protect the integrity and security of the service and its users.

Tool input in the browser is temporary by nature. When you close a tab or clear the page, that working data is gone unless you copied or downloaded the result yourself.

Support emails and operational logs are kept only as long as needed for correspondence, security, troubleshooting, or legal obligations. Retention periods can vary by provider and by the type of record.

We take reasonable steps appropriate for a public utility website. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If your security requirements do not allow sensitive content to be pasted into any web page, you should not paste it here.

jsoncompare.dev may be accessible from many countries. If you visit the site, technical data may be processed in the regions where our hosting and service providers operate.

The site is intended for a general professional and technical audience. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact support@jsoncompare.dev and we will take appropriate steps.

You can use the tools without creating an account. You can also:

• avoid sending personal data in support emails if you prefer to keep correspondence minimal
• clear browser data on your own device at any time
• stop using the site at any time
• email support@jsoncompare.dev to ask a privacy question or request help with information you previously sent us

Because main tool input is designed to remain local, we generally cannot retrieve, correct, or delete JSON you only pasted into your browser and never sent to us.
